The moment you have all* been waiting for…

I think I finally have most of the furniture I’m going to want and I’ve just had a good tidy, so now’s the time you finally get to see some photos of my apartment:

And a pretty sunset I took on the way home from work the other day:

Tokyo certainly has some amazing sunsets in the summer, something to do with the humidity probably. There was one the other day that drew an audible gasp from several people on the train I was on as we rounded the corner and could suddenly see it. Like the sky was on fire. Unfortunately, by the time I got somewhere I could take a picture it had gone.

I had a much more successful day yesterday than Saturday. My friend Tak turned up with exactly the last few bits and pieces I needed. He even sorted out my television subscription. I’d managed to set up the tuner using the pictures in the instructions and some guesswork, but I didn’t seem to have any actual channels. Turns out the guy doing the translating when I bought the subscription hadn’t quite got his Japanese right and set me up with the wrong package (prerecorded video only), it’s all ok now though, thanks to Tak. He even turned off the Japanese dubbing so now I can watch everything in it’s original English :D I made him nachos to say thanks. They were surprisingly good considering I had to use parsley instead of coriander and I couldn’t find ripe avocados (this is the first time that has happened in Japan). I even found some Cheddar, and it only[1] cost me £6 for 120 g!

* well, Chauy has anyway.
[1] In case you missed it, that was sarcasm.

About Nell

I am a researcher in bionanotechnology currently living and working in Tokyo. I moved out here nearly three years ago, against my better judgement but in search of adventure. It has certainly been an adventure and not one I would have missed for the world. I am trying to retrain as a designer and you may see the odd example of my work appear here as I progress. I also indulge in opinionated rambling.
