In amongst all the hype…

Apple have lifted the restriction on VoIP (voice over internet protocols) in apps from the app store*. Technical jargon blah blah obscure computing term blah blah wireless blah blah leaving the path clear for developers blah.

Bottom line is that a fully functional version of Skype should be available to use on the iPhone in the not too distant future. Or, in other words, I can now call any land line in the UK from my mobile in Japan for free, and you can call me too :)
Oh and it seems today all bloggers everywhere are required to mention it so: “iPad”.
*OMG app could be short for either application OR apple, I can’t believe I only just got that!

About Nell

I am a researcher in bionanotechnology currently living and working in Tokyo. I moved out here nearly three years ago, against my better judgement but in search of adventure. It has certainly been an adventure and not one I would have missed for the world. I am trying to retrain as a designer and you may see the odd example of my work appear here as I progress. I also indulge in opinionated rambling.
