Margarine

Japan can be a topsy turvy place. This morning for breakfast I had scotch pancakes, the packet said they were maple and margarine flavour and, sure enough, they were sandwiching a dollop of marg and some syrup. I’ve never thought of margarine as a flavour before but it crops up all over the place here. When you go to a high class hotel, they take the butter away and give you marg instead: it is the height of class.

About Nell

I am a researcher in bionanotechnology currently living and working in Tokyo. I moved out here nearly three years ago, against my better judgement but in search of adventure. It has certainly been an adventure and not one I would have missed for the world. I am trying to retrain as a designer and you may see the odd example of my work appear here as I progress. I also indulge in opinionated rambling.
