I‘m going snowboarding for the first time in my life tomorrow. In case I don’t come back, here are some snow related photos for posterity:
I went shopping for snowboarding gear on Sunday. The area of Tokyo where all the snowboarding shops are is lined by snow carvings like these. The green one seemed to be blaring out a monologue from the ghetto blaster at its feet. Even the Japanese passers by were staring at it looking puzzled, so goodness knows what it was saying! I think it’s supposed to be a cabbage…
On a very very clear day (like when it has been raining all night and just cleared up before dawn), I can see Fuji san from the train on my way to work. Last week it must have been quite astonishingly clear because I could also see him peaking through the buildings on my way to the station. I didn’t even know that road faced the right direction!
It’s funny how your brain magnifies things; I had to blow the middle of this photo up enormously for you to see the mountain in it and it still seems tiny, yet, at the time, it seemed massive.
