In case you hadn’t noticed, I’ve been on one. Here are my two favourite holiday snaps:
We spent a day mooching around Hakone, which is a big national park in the mountains near Fuji. Sadly, it was a little cloudy, so we didn’t get quite the best views of the famous volcano:
After our cable car ride, we had a boat trip across a lake and a walk around a garden. There were quite a few signs to “one of the best 100 bridges in Kanagawa*”, so we decided to investigate. The map suggested it crossed a significantly sized stream. It didn’t:
I think the icing on the cake was the way the water it crosses links a sort of muddy pond with a boating lake. Odd. Betheru says she was doing jazz hands, you’ll have to take her word for it.
* Kanagawa is the county I live in, it’s pretty big and includes all of Hakone national park and Fuji itself. It also includes all of Yokohama, which ought to have quite a few interesting historical bridges. I guess it doesn’t have 100. Perhaps it was a mistranslation of “oldest”?
