Dolphins. Thunderous ones.

Yesterday I went on the Thunder Dolphin* roller coaster in Tokyo. This coaster weaves in and out of buildings in Tokyo and goes through the middle of a Ferris wheel.

What it lacks in length (it only takes around a minute as compared to 3 mins for the Pepsi Max Big One in Blackpool) it makes up for in that first drop.

That photo really doesn’t do it justice. It is BIG. In fact, it’s the 5th tallest roller coaster in the world; if I’d known that yesterday, I might not have got on it!

I did manage to put my arms up eventually, but only quite near the end.

*Yes. I know. Thunder Dolphin?! Thunder Dolphin?!?!

About Nell

I am a researcher in bionanotechnology currently living and working in Tokyo. I moved out here nearly three years ago, against my better judgement but in search of adventure. It has certainly been an adventure and not one I would have missed for the world. I am trying to retrain as a designer and you may see the odd example of my work appear here as I progress. I also indulge in opinionated rambling.
