A few days ago my headphones broke, so I went shopping. On my way somewhere else I saw a little shop with a sign saying CD, DVD & AV. “Fantastic!” thought I, ‘”Audio Visual”: just what I’m looking for’ and I toddled up the stairs to the floor marked AV. I was mildly puzzled to find a floor of videos and no obvious hardware “but”, thought I, “perhaps the headphones are at the back of the shop, maybe behind that display where all the other customers appear to be hiding …”.
I went behind the display and was again mildly puzzled when all the men there shuffled back round the other side. It was only when I actually looked at one of the DVDs on the stand that I realized my mistake. It turns out AV can stand for other things than “Audio Visual”.
Then, you realized you also needed a new dress, and when you followed the signs for “CD” ….
