About Me

If you found me searching for the lyrics to the children's song, you can find them here.
I am a researcher in bionanotechnology currently living and working in Tokyo. I moved out here nearly three years ago, against my better judgement but in search of adventure. It has certainly been an adventure and not one I would have missed for the world.
I am trying to retrain as a designer and you may see the odd example of my work appear here as I progress.
I also indulge in opinionated rambling.

Sunday morning meanderings
Balancing my coursework requirements with my job hasn’t left me much time to spare for writing here and the one time I did manage it was an epic post that was probably deeply uninteresting to most. Perhaps it is time … Continue reading

Some other bits and bobs

For various reasons, I’d got behind on the course before I’d really got going, so I’m having a catchup weekend. Here’s today’s first effort: It’s a conte crayon “tonal” drawing, as compared to last night’s line one.

Getting creative
I said I’d post the various bits and bobs I did for the art course up here. This isn’t my first drawing, but it’s the first that was big enough to be worth posting, the others have all been warm … Continue reading

Double poster today
I had to share this, it’s simply incredible: Willard Wigan on TED The first half is interesting from a biographical perspective but it really gets good about 12 minutes in when he starts showing examples of his work. There’s more … Continue reading

In case you thought I might have forgotten…
Some sketchy stuff: After scanning it in, I decided to put a bit more shadow inside the hand.
